Camping in Greece: The Packing List (and How to Get Real Coffee Outdoors)

What to take camping in Greece — from organised campsites to wild beaches — plus the lightest way to brew real pour-over coffee in nature.

Organised campsite or wild camping?

Greece offers everything from organised campsites with showers and electricity to remote beaches and mountain spots. Check local rules before you go: free camping is restricted in many areas, and fire bans apply in summer, so always use a safe, permitted way to heat water.

When to go

Late spring and early autumn are the most comfortable seasons for camping in Greece: warm days, cooler nights and fewer crowds. In July and August, shade and water become the priority, and the fire risk is at its highest.

Shelter and sleep

A tent with good ventilation and a sun shade or tarp, a sleeping bag suited to the season (mountain nights can be cold even in summer), a sleeping mat, and a small pillow. Pegs for both soft and hard ground help on beaches and rocky sites.

Water, food and kitchen

Refillable water bottles and plenty of spare water, a small stove or kettle where allowed, a lighter, one pot, a mug for each person, a knife, biodegradable soap, and bags to carry all your rubbish back out. Plan simple meals that need little cooking.

Safety and comfort

A headlamp with spare batteries, sun protection and a hat, insect repellent, a basic first-aid kit, a power bank, and offline maps for areas without signal. Tell someone where you are going if you head somewhere remote.

Coffee without the extra gear

Grinders, scales, brewers and paper filters add weight and things to wash. A drip bag replaces all of them: each Semprevivo ESC bag holds 8g of pre-ground organic coffee and hangs right on your mug.

How to brew at camp

Heat water and let it rest briefly so it sits around 87–94°C. Tear the bag along the dotted line, hook it on your mug and pour 150–180ml slowly in a few rounds. Pack the used bag out with the rest of your rubbish. On hot afternoons, brew it over ice for an iced pour-over.

How many drip bags to pack

Count one or two bags per person per day. A box of six bags (48g of coffee) covers a weekend for two. For a longer trip, the 30-piece Explorer's Kit covers a week or more for two people. Orders over €40 ship free within Greece.

Leave no trace

Take everything back with you, including used drip bags, and never leave food scraps behind. Greek beaches and mountains stay beautiful for the next visitor only if every camper does the same.
